Hi! I’m Nisha and I’m a Clinical Psychologist.
Can you tell me a little about your background?
Hi, I am Nisha, a qualified Clinical Psychologist currenting working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in the NHS. I have chosen to specialise and gain expertise in working with children and adolescents throughout my career. I genuinely care about each person I work with, and believe that through working together positive changes can be made.
What will it be like when I meet you?
As a therapist I am open, friendly and caring. I will create a space for you to feel comfortable and relaxed. I will listen to you and find out about your difficulties and together we can think about what we want to work on and what you would like to be different when we finish therapy. I will be friendly, helpful and support you to express how you are feeling and develop skills and tools to lead to positive changes. I think that our sessions should also be interesting and fun, so I will try and make our sessions engaging.
What therapies do you use and what kind of difficulties do you help people with?
I would hope that you would feel confident working with me, knowing that I am experienced and knowledgeable in helping people to overcome mental health difficulties in children, including low mood, anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, trauma, low self-esteem, difficulties managing emotions, just to name a few areas I can help with. I have been trained in many types of therapy which have been shown to be effective in improving young people's mental health, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Systemic Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). To achieve the best progress I am skilled in combining elements of therapies to provide treatment that is most effective for the people I work with.
What do you enjoy doing outside of psychology?
I love to watch comedy shows, go to the theatre or listen to live music. I also enjoy watching films, baking and flower arranging. I enjoy playing board games, going swimming or to zumba! I would be interested to know about what you enjoy doing too!
