Background information:
Helping people create lasting, positive change in their lives is a privilege I never take for granted. I first studied Psychology at the University of York, graduating with an MSci (Hons), before completing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manchester.
Before training in psychology, I worked in a brokerage firm in the North East. While the environment was fast-paced and demanding, I knew my real passion lay in understanding people and helping them live more fulfilling lives. That calling has shaped the style and essence of my clinical work today.
My early experiences in psychology were shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic, working in a wellbeing service that supported social care staff and residents recovering from its devastating impact.
Since then, I’ve worked across a wide range of NHS settings, including adult secondary care at the Royal Oldham Hospital, a CAMHS service in Huddersfield offering therapy and neuropsychological assessments, and an older adult’s service delivering cognitive assessments and psychological interventions. I also spent ten months in a specialist pain centre, helping people living with persistent pain rebuild their lives and navigate rehabilitation.
Meeting Lewis:
I know how important it is to feel safe, heard, and respected in therapy. That’s why I prioritise a genuine, human connection from the very first session. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of my work, and I’ll take time to create a space where you feel comfortable to share whatever feels important at your own pace.
Our initial conversations will focus on understanding what’s brought you to therapy and what you’d like to get out of it. Together, we’ll begin to explore your experiences and build a shared understanding of the challenges you’re facing, as well as the factors that may be contributing to them. My approach is warm, collaborative, and prioritises connection.
I often support clients to explore the role their emotional experiences have played, make space for acceptance, and learn ways to respond more flexibly to life’s challenges. It’s a real privilege to work alongside people as they make sense of their experiences and take steps toward a life that feels more manageable, fulfilling, and true to them.
Difficulties Lewis helps with:
I work with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety-related problems such as Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and health anxiety.
I also support people experiencing low mood, grief and loss, addiction, low self-esteem, and relationship or communication difficulties. In addition, I have experience working with clients facing work-related stress, burnout, and career challenges, helping people to regain clarity, balance, and a stronger sense of direction in their professional lives.
My therapeutic style is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported, somewhere you can explore what is difficult without judgement and begin to make meaningful, lasting change at your own pace.
Interests outside of psychology:
Outside of work, I’m usually found on a golf course or in the stands following Newcastle United, part of the Toon Army travelling up and down the country and across Europe. I’ve always loved sport, and I enjoy spending time fishing with my dad or watching tennis with my mum, especially during Wimbledon season.
Family and friend time is really important to me, whether that’s a quiet weekend together or a big get-together. My fiancée and I also share a passion for travelling the world, always looking for new places to explore and new experiences to collect along the way.
