Background information:
Thank you for visiting my profile! I have studied Psychology at Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral levels, and have over seven years of experience working with children, adults and families with a range of emotional difficulties.
I have worked in a variety of settings including talking therapies services, child and adolescent mental health services, a hospital for people with neurodisability, a perinatal service and the charity sector. Since qualifying as a clinical psychologist, I have specialised in working with individuals with neurodevelopmental diagnoses such as autism and ADHD.
Meeting Katerina:
Starting or returning to therapy can feel overwhelming or daunting for some people. My aim is to ensure that I create a space that feels non-judgemental, warm and compassionate, so that we can explore together whether I’m the right therapist for you.
In our first session, I will want to get to know you better, I will ask you a few questions to understand what brought you to therapy and what I can support you with. If you have been to therapy before, I will want to explore what worked well for you and what you would like to be done differently this time around.
Our meeting will also be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions or share any worries you may have.
Difficulties Katerina helps with:
As a Clinical Psychologist, I adopt an integrative approach meaning I draw on multiple psychological theories, models, and therapeutic techniques to understand a person and their difficulties.
I am trained in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Treatment (MBT), Psychodynamic Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I also have experience of using principles from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as well as attachment theory and systemic approaches.
My practice is grounded in a person-centred approach that values each individual’s lived experiences and personal characteristics, ensuring therapy is shaped around their values and what matters most to them.
I have experience working with individuals with low mood, different anxiety difficulties, stress, trauma, anger, relational difficulties, and low self-esteem or confidence, as well as women in the perinatal period.
Interests outside of psychology:
Outside of psychology, I enjoy staying active through doing martial arts and taking dancing lessons. I also love travelling and exploring new places and unwinding with good books or spending time with family and friends.
