Learn More About Amen
Background information:
I have always been curious about people: how our early experiences shape us, how
relationships influence our wellbeing, and how emotional difficulties can emerge and change across different stages of life. This curiosity led me to psychology and continues to guide my work as a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR therapist.
I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University, following postgraduate training in Health Psychology and an undergraduate degree in Philosophy & Psychology. Alongside this, I have over nine years’ experience working across the NHS, charity sector and private sector. My training has allowed me to think deeply about both the science of psychology and the wider social, cultural, and relational contexts that shape mental health.
I have worked collaboratively with people across the lifespan, including adults, children, families, and couples. Working across the lifespan has helped me develop a strong understanding of how early attachment experiences and relational patterns can influence mental health, particularly within multicultural and intergenerational contexts. My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and cultural humility, offering space for people to bring their whole selves to therapy.
Meeting Amen:
I do not underestimate how daunting attending therapy can feel, so my aim is to provide a safe and supportive space to meet. We’ll take time to get to know each other, explore what brought you to therapy, and consider your goals and needs.
Therapy with me is a space to understand yourself better, develop skills, and make
changes that improve your wellbeing. I am committed to nurturing a collaborative, non-judgmental space where you can share at your own pace. Together, we can develop a plan that is specific to you and your needs, and we will regularly check in to ensure our work feels helpful and aligns with your goals.
Difficulties Amen helps with:
I am experienced in supporting people with a wide range of psychological difficulties. This includes common challenges such as anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship challenges, and adjustment to life changes, as well as concerns around self-esteem or identity.
I also work with more complex presentations such as trauma, bipolar disorder, OCD, and phobias. I also have specialist expertise in perinatal mental health, supporting birthing people and families during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.
Interests outside of psychology:
Outside of my therapeutic work, I value community, connection, and creativity. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, reading, and learning new skills (right now, I am learning how to swim)! I can also be a bit of a homebody, and love spending weekends cooking and trying out new recipes.
