Learn More About Elliott

Background information:

I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Practitioner, and I work with adults, young people, couples, families, and close friendships. I’m interested in how our experiences, relationships, and the wider systems we live within shape how we feel about ourselves and the world around us.

I’ve worked across NHS and community settings, supporting people with a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties. Earlier in my career, I worked in a community psychology service supporting young men affected by poverty, violence, and exclusion, which shaped my interest in the role of relationships, community, and context in mental health.

Alongside my clinical work, I’m an Associate Lecturer in systemic practice and deliver teaching at the University of Hertfordshire and the University of Oxford. My current research explores how systemic therapy might expand beyond families and couples to recognise friendships as important relational resources.

In my work with clients, I try to offer a space that feels calm, respectful, and thoughtful — somewhere you can talk openly, reflect, and explore what’s going on for you at a pace that feels right.

Meeting Elliott:

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and integrative. I draw on a range of approaches depending on what feels most helpful, including:

  • Systemic therapy — working with individuals, couples, families, and sometimes close friendship groups to explore patterns, relationships, in context
  • Narrative therapy — making sense of experiences and the stories we live in
  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) — building on strengths, resources, and what’s already working
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — supporting psychological flexibility and values-based action
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — noticing and working with patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviour
  • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) — developing a kinder and more supportive relationship with yourself
  • Attachment- and trauma-informed practice — working with the impact of early experiences, relationships, and difficult life events

We’ll work together to make sense of what’s happening in your life and what feels most important to you now.

Difficulties Elliot helps with:

I work with people experiencing:

  • Anxiety, low mood, trauma, and overwhelm
  • Life transitions, identity questions, and feeling stuck
  • Relationship, couple, family and friendship difficulties
  • Neurodivergent experiences, including autism and ADHD

I see adults, young people, couples, families, and sometimes close relational groups where that feels helpful.

Interests outside of work:

Outside of clinical work, I enjoy music, art, film, and spending time with friends. I’m interested in how creativity and culture shape meaning and connection, and that curiosity often finds its way into my work too.
