Hi! I’m Humaira and I am an Occupational Therapist.

I conducted my undergraduate degree in Psychology before completing my Masters in Occupational Therapy, specialising in mental health. Since qualifying I have spent a significant amount of time working with both adults and children facing various mental health challenges in both inpatient and community settings, incorporating various therapies to suit the needs of each client I see. I have also completed trainings in DBT with British Isles, as well as ADOS training with Pearsons.

I currently work in a private mental health hospital on an inpatient CAMHS ward. My experience of working with this client base has allowed me to work directly with children and adolescents with complex mental health needs, often coupled with neurodiversity, with a lot of patients having diagnoses of ADHD and ASD. This has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding and awareness of how different these conditions can present in each individual and the impact they can have on daily functioning, whether that may be in an educational , social or personal setting. I therefore like to take a holistic approach with each client I see, acknowledging that there is no one size fits all model when it comes to mental health or neurodiversity.

I implement this same approach when conducting ADHD and autism assessments which I conduct for both adults and children.

Following these assessments, I provide appropriate support where necessary to support individuals with diagnoses with various strategies to help manage symptoms that may be present, which may include DBT informed approaches, sensory integration and tools to manage anxiety.
