Hi! My name is Sisi and I'm a Counselling Psychologist.

My journey to becoming a Counselling Psychologist started in school, where I began developing curiosity and passion towards psychology; the theories that explained interpersonal relationships and human behaviours and learn ways that people could support themselves and their loved ones through difficult situations. This led me to pursuit Psychology for my bachelor’s degree and went on to complete my Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City, University of London. Throughout my training, I had the privilege of working with a diverse group of individuals, such as children and adults across all age groups, as well as families and adult offenders in secure services. I have worked in various mental health sectors for number of years including the NHS, private practice, primary and secondary schools, and in low/medium-secure forensic services. I currently work in a prison service as a senior counselling psychologist, and I am also a member of the Health and Professions Council (HCPC).
My training not only provided me with valuable experiences and knowledge, but it also highlighted the complexity of interpersonal issues; the importance of building meaningful relationships, and how therapy can benefit our personal, emotional, and spiritual development.

What I aim to offer clients
I would describe myself as a friendly, empathic, and curious individual. I aim to offer a safe, non-judgemental, and containing therapeutic environment for my clients, where you can feel cared for and listened to. I can provide guidance and insights without taking away your agency because I strongly believe that therapy could facilitate personal growth through recognising your strengths, values, and vulnerabilities. Therefore, I also value the collaborative nature of therapy, where we can work together to find your place of stuck-ness and ways to help you through your difficulties in a way that best suits you.
The types of therapy I use and the kind of difficulties I work with

I believe in individuality and the uniqueness of each client’s personal story and narrative, so I offer one-to-one therapy that is tailored to your needs. I practice with an integrative approach with Person-Centred therapy as the foundation, along with other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), the Psychodynamic approach, Systemic Therapy, Mindfulness, and Schema Therapy.
I have experiences of working with a variety of complex presentations and difficulties including attachment issues, anxiety, depression, bereavement, interpersonal relationship challenges, personality disorders, psychosis, self-harm and suicidality, and substance misuse.

My interests outside of work

Outside of work, I like to indulge in self-caring activities to destress and to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This may be spending time with my loved ones or by myself exercising, reading books, and watching documentaries and dramas on TV. I am also a proud pet mum to my dwarf hamster, Bob, who can get quite sassy at times for such a little soul!
